Notes on Crochet Design
Sometimes I have a very clear image of what it is I want to design in my head and then I go for it and the finished project comes out exactly like I imagined it would. In the case of the duck it certainly did NOT happen that way. When I started shaping the head he seemed to take on a personality of his own and I had no choice, but to go along and see who would come through. Well, let me introduce him.

My students have given me a Elephant/Rainbow/Duck design challenge and while I have enjoyed making the three requests, the hardest part for me was to design something easy. I did manage to come up with a very cute and super simple little duck that just so happens to be perfect for an Easter nest. After a lot of trial and error and some major balance issues I want to share the free ducky crochet pattern with you.

My little one came home from school and brought all her doll furniture into my office. This is why I do what I do. Look!
I love teaching middle schoolers crochet. They are still cute but already pretty capable AND they keep me busy with pattern requests. Then I get to invent new things and share them here too, so everybody wins 🙂
My new project was probably my favorite (but I think that every week). The girls wanted a penguin and I can share a little bit about how I start to make up a new pattern for an amigurumi animal or an applique.

Make this easy cheeky crochet monkey
I have recently begun teaching a class at the local middle school and one of the girls asked to make a crochet monkey. After fussing around and overthinking/ overcomplicating I have finally come up with a sweet little and simple amigurumi monkey that is ideal for a beginner.
